J.F. Rogge - Ernst Thälmann Bust

Today we bring a bust of the German communist leader Ernst Thälmann, made by the German sculptor J.F. Rogge. The sculptor recognized by his busts and monuments first of the leaders of the German National Socialist and after World War II of the communist leaders. Thus many of his works are elaborated on photographs of the characters portrayed with whom he was not always contemporary.

In this case the sculpture of 1959 portrays Ernst Thälmann fifteen years after his execution and after spending eleven years imprisoned by the Nazi government, after being arrested in 1933.

Aladrén, male bust

Emilio Aladrén was a sculptor whose fame is divided between his work and his relationship with the poet Federico García Lorca, whose separation led the Granada poet to New York. His subsequent political alignment would lead to his greatest successes during the Franco dictatorship, portraying the regime's pro-men. In 1944 death overtook him prematurely ending his career with 38 years.

Mao Zedong - Ceramic

This time a pottery of the Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong. The cult of the figure of this leader has bequeathed us innumerable representations of the same as a man of the people, so at the base we find the motto "at the service of the people" "为人民服务".

The cult of Mao promoted by Lin Biao was one of the bases of the cultural revolution and at that time it was usual to find its image in all kinds of buildings, shops and homes throughout China. Even today his image is common in the halls of many households in rural areas.

Sculptures like these were created all over the country and are easy to find in any antique business or even new copies in art and ceramic stores.

“Aprendiz” by Jerónimo Suñol

Today we present bust of an "apprentice" of the sculptor Jerónimo Suñol, one of the most important sculptors of his time in Spain. The sculpture is made in the stage of artistic refinement in Rome in 1878 and cast in bronze later in Barcelona. This small bust measures 43 cm high on the marble base and 22 x 21 cm in plan.

Adam by Rodin

Our second piece for this sculpture collection is a miniature of Rodin's Adam. This piece of smaller scale than the original, 56cm, seems to be a pre-test to the sculpture of Adam finally made in 1881 to place on the sides of "The Gates of Hell". Although it seems that before this assignment, Rodin already had exposed like "the creation of the man".

Moøkan at Sketchfab

We love Sketchfab, and we would like to share it with you. Sketchfab is a website to share 3D models as we share video in Youtube or Vimeo. It is a light 3D engine on the web that is perfect to show 3D models and sites. It is a fantastic tool for artists and it is becoming popular also for museums, to share their collections with all the world. Some models can be downloaded to share the 3D files, so other artists can use them for their own creations.
